My name is Jan Dawson. I am passionate about pets and love painting portraits of them. Welcome to my home, Full Spectrum Creative Art Studio where, through painting and drawing, I explore the full spectrum of life's experiences ... from those that express the exuberant beauty of flowers or the joyful innocence of puppies through to the gnarled beauty that bears witness to life's struggles and more painful moments. Those moments both in nature and in the lives of all living creatures that test us.
While my inspiration has always come from the natural world, I have more recently focused on portraiture. I enjoy doing people portraits but I am most passionate about painting pet portraits.
I feel so very fortunate to be able to do what I love to do ... painting portraits of people's precious pets! 
My favourite moment is when I am able to capture that priceless expression of loyalty in a dog's eyes, the curious, intent gaze in the cat's eyes or the peaceful, tentative expression in a horse's eyes.

I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with pet guardians who love and care for their animal companions. It is also very important for me to remember that not all animals are so fortunate. In my desire to support organizations that work to raise awareness and advocate for the animals amongst us who experience abuse, neglect and exploitation, 10% of my net profits are donated to non-profit groups that improve the lives of animals.
